About
Betelgeuse was founded by Maham Furqan in 2024 following the completion of her PhD in Energy Policy.
Maham is an accomplished energy economist and interdisciplinary researcher specializing in electricity and power markets, energy systems, renewable energy deployment, energy policy and regulation, grid modernization, distributed energy resources, and infrastructure resilience. With over a decade of experience across energy economics, quantitative analysis, technoeconomic modeling, and policy research, she applies analytical and mixed-methods approaches to complex energy-system and investment questions.
At Betelgeuse, Maham works with a global network of technical and subject-matter experts to deliver energy consulting and research for public- and private-sector clients. The firm combines electricity market analysis and modeling, quantitative and econometric analysis, scenario analysis and forecasting, technoeconomic and cost-benefit analysis, and data-driven research to evaluate technology pathways, investment requirements, system performance, resilience, and energy-transition strategies.
