Dr. Maham Furqan
Energy Policy Enthusiast
Welcome to my website!

My name is Maham. I have a PhD in Energy Policy from Oregon State University (2023) and an MPhil in Economics. I am a mixed-methods, inter-disciplinary social scientist and my work revolves around climate resilience, microgrids, just transition policy, and energy economics.

Research Interests
I specialize in energy policy, planning, and regulation, grid and community resilience, and niche energy technologies e.g., microgrids. My PhD research focused on how microgrids regulatory frameworks in the US have evolved and to what extent are resilience valuation techniques and energy equity plans incorporated into these policies.

By leveraging a mixed-methods approach, I conduct inter-disciplinary research that flows through multiple areas e.g., energy economics and policy, political ecology, climate adaptation, energy equity, climate change mitigation, clean transitions, and resilience planning. I enjoy getting into the weeds of policies and investigating complex energy problems to propose sustainable governance plans.
